Keyboard with DSi

As I was perusing through the Kotaku(through Google reader), I came across this Youtube video.

Being a fan of piano music(classical and jazz), this was quite cool. This made me wish once again, that I have some talent with music. I still remembered that my dad bought me one of those small Casio keyboard when I was 7 and never evan had a chance to play a decent piece until it was broken. Another attempt that I made to study music was when I was 11. I coerced my grandmother to buy me guitar. Sadly, I was never able to learn anything, and broke again even before I could play a single piece. I am now content to buying good earphones and CD’s and listen to those beautiful piano pieces. Right now, I’m indulging myself with Hiromi Uehara’s music. Thanks to Renz for introducing me to her music. And she looks really cool when playing in her piano.

Back to the DSi. I’ll be appending this keyboard capability to my list of reasons to buy me a DSi. Currently it goes like this:
1. I still don’t have a DS
2. Camera, and two of them. I currently don’t own a camera-phone because of I am a klutz. I’ve already lost two of my camera phone, so I won’t be buying one until I become filthy rich(so I won’t mind losing it).
3. Official support for SD cards.
4. Official web browser
5. Cooler form factor
6. Can be played as a keyboard(NEW)

But I also have a list why I still don’t wanna buy a DSi in the near future
1. NO HOMEBREW!!!!!!
2. NO GBA cartridge

Though the second is bearable, the first is what counts. I don’t mind if I couldn’t play ripped off games, because I buy games. But not being able to run homebrews, that would suck big time. For me, portable consoles are like Swiss Army knives. I don’t treat them as mere toys, I treat them as tools. I read manga with them, read PDF’s with it, watch movies, listen to musics, study kanji with it, use it as an organizer, calculator, and I also used it as a platform for my portfolios(I was able to work as a game programmer because of my PSP).

Hopefully, someone will be able to pull off some sort of miracle and enable homebrews with DSi. Or even a better miracle, Nintendo will make the SDK for DSiwares open to public like what Apple did with iPhone/iPod Touch’s SDK. Until that day comes, I’ll still be holding off my DSi acquisition plans.

Just another rant ends here.
